The cold, frosty days of winter offer the perfect excuse to reach for your favourite comforting scents. Here's our perfume picks for Fall Winter 2022 from our scent sommelier!
Hermessence Violette Volynka
From Hermès comes the new perfume Violette Volynka this season, for women and men, launched this year. The fragrance has notes of French violet, that open the perfume up on a floral note. The leather accords in the perfume add to the balance masculine balance of the perfume, which we found quite pleasant. There's a slight powdery note to it as well, that makes the fragrance linger on the skin. Light and effervescent — this is a perfume you want to wear day-to-day.
Prada Paradoxe
From Prada comes the new Paradoxe fragrance, starring the beautiful Emma Watson in the campaign. The perfume comes in a triangle shaped bottle, reminiscent of the Prada logo. The scent opens up with fresh notes of pear, tangerine and bergamot. At the heart, there's an elegant white floral bouquet of orange blossom, jasmine sambac and neroli. The scent is wrapped in a base of bourbon vanilla, white musk and amber, adding to that beautiful amber accord. The perfume is a gorgeous day scent for those cooler days in the winter.
Hermès H24
The new Hermès H24 fragrance was also launched this year and is a fragrance for men. The perfume starts off with mossy notes of oak moss and earthy tones of Clary sage. The Brazilian rosewood and sclarene in the perfume give the scent a woody and aromatic undertone. With the narcissus, the perfume is balanced off elegantly, rounding it up to a more fresher note. Like Violette Volynka, this makes for a great day-to-day perfume.
Libre Le Parfum by Yves Saint Laurent
This year's new release from Yves Saint Laurent is Libre Le Parfum, in the iconic YSL logo-adorned bottle. The top notes of ginger, saffron and mandarin orange create a warm spicy melange. At the heart, we find orange blossom and lavender, adding a beautiful sweetness. At the base, there's notes of bourbon vanilla, tonka bean and vetiver, rounding up the fragrance with vanilla accords. The perfume is rich and intense, to add warmth to the cold winter nights.
Rose Dunes by Molton Brown
This new fragrance comes in the iconic ball-capped Molton Brown bottle, this time in a marbled rose cap. Launched this year, the fragrance has fresh and spicy notes of saffron, cassis and ginger. At the heart, there's a bouquet of rose, geranium and lily-of-the-valley that is sweet and floral. At its base, we find patchouli, musk and oud, leaving a woody accord. The scent is smoky and intriguing and will make a beautiful scent for dark and mysterious evenings for women and men.
Good Fortune by Viktor & Rolf
A new fragrance by Viktor & Rolf that was released this year. The fragrance opens with a combination of fennel and gentian flower, creating a spicy accord. At the heart, we find an infusion of blooming jasmine. And at the base, the madagascar and vanilla leave a velvety trail. This is a powerful fragrance that is best worn for a seductive dinner party with friends.
Sì by Giorgio Armani
Last but not least, three perfumes that aren't new to the game but that we find fitting for this Fall/Winter season as well. Starting with Sì by Giorgio Armani — an iconic perfume by Giorgio Armani that is much-loved. A fresh top note of cassis opens up the scent while floral notes of may rose and freesia lie at the heart. To finish, there's hints of vanilla, patchouli and woody notes at the base, adding woody and aromatic accords. This is an every-day wear scent for women that lingers delicately and beautifully on the skin. This universally loved scent also makes for a perfect holiday gift.
Roos & Roos
Anoter beautiful fragrance we want to feature nonetheless. In the Wood for Love by Roos & Roos is a fragrance for women and men. The top notes of orange blossom, bergamot and mandarin orange, give a citrus-y yet woody tone to the perfume, while the orris and violet add to the floral accords of the perfume. Rounded up with patchouli, cedar and vetiver, the perfume becomes woody and slightly powdery. The bottle illustration alone is to die for and we all love discovering new niche scents like these!
Flower bomb by Viktor & Rolf
Flower bomb is an iconic fragrance from Viktor & Rolf. Top notes of tea, bergamot and osmanthos create a fresh and sweet accord. At the heart, the orchid, jasmine and rose notes add a floral and sweet layer. To wrap up, the patchouli, musk and vanilla create an almost oriental base.
