Rosie is 9 weeks now. I sometimes still cannot believe that she is here and that I get to hold her in my arms every day. I know — I have become the ultimate parent cliche. All I can think of is my little girl and all I can talk about revolves around babies and parenthood.
We're wrapping up our maternity visits this week. After this, we'll slowly be going back to the office again. Our mothers, who have been waiting an eternity for their grandchild (they've been asking for their first even before we got married), will be helping us taking care of Rosie when we go to work, for which we are infinitely grateful. We started a trial run last week with my mother. I won't say how often I have checked the baby cam (way too often, really) but it felt great to pick up where we left off again. Our whole life can now be grouped into a pre-Rosie and post-Rosie phase, where our pre-Rosie life feels like a lifetime ago and our post-Rosie life is still wide open, ready to be filled with new memories.
With my return to the office, we'll pick up the pace at Currant again and some more projects I'll be working on this year.
I am ready for this next phase to start — let's go!
9 May / a Bulgari story
I hadn't realised that this year, Mother's Day is going to have a whole new meaning that I am a mother myself.
It hit me only when this beautiful box from Bvlgari arrived.
As a first-time mom, I am now obsessed with everything baby so the contents of the box made me swoon instantly.
And this box had been sitting in the hallway all weekend, filling the house with the most divine scent.
In the box, was the Petits et Mamans gift set, containing a perfume, body lotion and cute little pouch.
I feel blessed that I get to share these lovely gifts with Rosie and look forward to my first Mother's Day already.
As the vibrant colors of spring breathe new life into the world around us, I find myself reflecting on the whirlwind journey of the past few months. From the sleepless nights and endless diaper changes to the precious moments of joy and wonder, surviving the newborn weeks with our little one has been an awe-inspiring adventure. Now, as our baby approaches the 11-week mark, I am rediscovering a renewed sense of energy and embarking on the journey of recalibrating my life, finding a harmonious balance between work and motherhood.
This week unfolded like a blossoming flower in the embrace of spring. I had my first Mother’s Day, which I celebrated with my mother, mother-in-law and Rosie. I am establishing a steady routine of office and home life. And I am starting to pick up life again, right where I left it (more or less).
Navigating this journey of motherhood, I am discovering that amidst the daily demands, it is in the simplest moments, like the warmth of Rosie’s smile or the joy in K’s eyes when Rosie learns something new, where the true magic of motherhood resides. And it makes me feel forever grateful that I get to live these moments.
26 May / a Hermès story
Last night Hermès celebrated the unveiling of the new installation “Journey of the Sun” by artist Kustaa Saksi in Amsterdam. The jacquard tapestry installation paints a kaleidoscope of colours across the windows of the Crystal House, mirroring the vibrant energy of the summer solstice and welcoming in the new season.
In the intricate patterns and vibrant hues, I saw the reflection of the joy, love and beauty that my baby girl has brought into my world and the precious gift of motherhood. Like the delicate strands, our lives are interwoven, creating a tapestry of shared moments and endless possibilities.
As we prepare the pages of Currant Magazine’s next issue, I’m reminded of the importance of cherishing every moment. It’s a reminder to slow down, to embrace the simple joys and to savour the beauty that surrounds us.
