There's nothing more personal than a person's perfume. A perfume can alter a person's look, mood and emotion on any given day. It's the invisible veil that completes your look every day. And it's the reason why my beauty vanity is chock full of perfume bottles. Full bottles, half full, even empties and almost-empties. My humble collection only shows half my love for perfumes. The other half is in my nose. Oh, the sensation of finding a new scent that triggers my senses.

Perfumes remain an underestimated part of the beauty world. They're often seen as luxurious gifts you can give to your loved ones. But make no mistake — a perfume has as much depth as wines. For Currant, I will dive into the various perfumes we've selected every season. From new ones to classic ones and from floral scents to more woody scents. You'll see it all in our perfume series.

Narciso Rodriguez — Pure Musc

Narciso Rodriguez perfumes always have this lingering and enticing scent and Pure Musc is no exception. Pure Musc is a delicate perfume with depth with both floral and woody notes. Consisting of musk as its top note, florals as a middle note and cashmeran at its base, the scent is elegant and clean.

Serge Lutens — Fils de Joie & Feminité du Bois

Serge Lutens is a guilty pleasure for today's contemporary woman. Feminité du Bois is one of the brand's classic scents. With top notes of virginia, cedar, plum, cinnamon and peach, ylang-ylang, ginger, violet, clove and rose as its middle notes and sandalwood, vanilla and musk at its base, the perfume makes for an orientally woody fragrance that no woman or man can resist. New to the collection this year is Fils de Joie (son of joy). The perfume is inspired by Serge Lutens' childhood memories and features jasmine as its top notes, ylang-ylang and honey in the middle and musk at its base. A sensual and nostalgic scent.

Dolce & Gabbana — Light Blue & Light Blue Intense

Light Blue is a cult favorite among perfumes. Its light fresh floral and fruity essence are reminiscent to a summer by the Mediterranean Sea. New is the Intense version, launched in 2017. With top notes of zesty lemon accords and granny smith apple, middle notes of marigold and jasmine and musk and amberwood at its base, Intense is its predecessor but with more depth and seduction.

Molton Brown — Juniper Jazz

Juniper Jazz is a new perfume that just launched this year for the holidays. The fragrance is crispy, woody and aromatic. Featured as its top note are mint and juniper berries, with orris and wood as middle notes and patchouli, musk and sandalwood in the base. The bottle has a luxurious and sophisticated pearly shine, making it a perfect gift for the festive season.

Giorgio Armani — Acqua di Giò Profondo

Profondo is a new one to the iconic Acqua di Giò line of Giorgio Armani perfumes and launched just this year. The fragrance opens with aquatic notes, aquozone, bergamot and green mandarin in the top, with middle notes of rosemary, cypress, lavender and mastic and mineral notes, patchouli, musk and amber at the base. It's a deeply sophisticated perfume with a stunning composition that stands on its own in the collection.

Viktor & Rolf — Spicebomb: Night Vision

This new fragrance launched last year and is a new one in the line of Spicebomb perfumes. The top notes are fruity and consist of granny smith apple, green mandarin, cardamom and grapefruit. In the middle notes there's sage, pepper, geranium, nutmeg and clove and in the base, tonka bean, almon and woody notes. It's a masculine scent with a sharp contrast.

Issey Miyake — L'eau d'Issey

Finally, a longtime classic. Issey Miyake is thought to have thought about 'spring water' when creating the perfume. The perfume can definitely be described as fresh and crisp. With top notes of lotus, melon, freesia, rose and calone, middle notes of lily, peony and carnation and musk, tuberose, cedar, sandalwood and amber at its base. The composition makes for a refined and floral perfume with a powerful suite.
