This month we're featuring the Aman Kyoto, a secluded luxury resort in Kyoto, Japan.
As the world is slowly getting out of the pandemic that has ruled our lives for almost two years now, we are starting to go back to our normal lives again (or as normal as it can be now). And there's an overall longing for relaxation, a moment of zen and peace and a desire to explore again. After the whirlwind of emotions we've experienced with the pandemic, we definitely a little getaway.
The Aman Kyoto is an upscale spa resort hidden away in the heart of the forest. Set among the forest along the Tenin River, behind tall lush trees, the strikingly mesmerising scenery instills a sense of calm and peace, perfect for those looking for an escape out of the bustling city life. Whimsical stone pathways decorate the forest floor and natural landscapes surround the pavilion, connecting the minimalist resort with nature.
The rooms at Aman Kyoto pay homages to the traditional Japanese ryokan style inns. With their minimalistic and geometric designs, spacious interiors and large open spaces that frame the forest and garden views, the Aman Kyoto perfectly encapsulates contemporary aesthetics with traditional Japanese culture.
Architect Kerry Hill and his team designed the Aman Kyoto resort. "Each of the 24 guestrooms features a contemporary reimagining of the traditional ryokan featuring minimalist aesthetics, floor-to-ceiling windows, tatami mats, and tokonoma. Neutral palettes complement the work of local artisans with the spaces incorporating handmade raku tile panels and custom-made ceramics.," Hills says of the design.
Enjoy a walk in the forest and start your spiritual journey at the 'Golden Temple', located near the secluded retreat. Book a healing spa treatment in the Aman Spa or sample the art of Japanese hospitality with a chef's omakase.
If you haven't booked your post-corona vacation yet, this is one to look at for sure.
