Editorial Direction

Editorial Direction is Currant's open editorial board — an outline of the cultural directions shaping our upcoming stories. Rather than documenting trends in the traditional sense, it maps the areas we are currently exploring across Life, Style, and Culture.

These signals reflect the questions we believe define the present moment: how people design their lives with intention, how fashion and beauty are moving toward craft and clarity, and how film, literature, and art help us understand the spirit of our time.

The themes below guide our editorial work. They are not exhaustive, and will continue to evolve as new signals emerge. Readers and industry professionals are welcome to check back regularly or reach out to our editorial team directly. If your work contributes meaningfully to one of these areas, we welcome thoughtful perspectives.

Life

Life at Currant is about living intelligently — designing a life that is not only beautiful, but considered and purposeful. We are interested in the objects, spaces, and rituals that help people move through the world with greater clarity and intention. Our stories explore how design, travel, food, and home environments shape everyday experience, and how the choices we make in daily life — however small — accumulate into something that reflects who we are and how we want to live. We look for ideas, voices, and brands that help people live with greater thoughtfulness without sacrificing a strong sense of aesthetics. At its core, Life sits at the intersection of design, purpose, and daily living — where deliberate choices turn ordinary routines into meaningful ones.

Life — We explore the tools, philosophies, and practices that help people structure their time and attention with greater purpose — from productivity thinking to the rituals and rhythms that support a more focused, considered way of living.

Motherhood — We approach motherhood as a dimension of identity rather than a departure from it: the experiences, voices, and products that speak to mothers who continue to move through the world with curiosity, taste, and a strong sense of self.

Travel — We explore travel as a form of cultural immersion rather than escape: the destinations, experiences, and ways of moving through the world that broaden perspective and deepen appreciation for place, craft, and people.

Food — We approach food as culture — exploring the rituals, restaurants, producers, and culinary ideas that reflect how societies eat, gather, and find meaning around the table.

Home — We are interested in the home as a curated environment: the design objects, materials, and spatial thinking that make a home not only more beautiful, but more intentional and liveable.

Wellness — We explore wellness as a practice of intention rather than performance: the rituals, philosophies, and approaches to rest, movement, and care that support a more grounded and considered way of living.

Style

Style is where personal identity meets craftsmanship. At Currant, we are interested in fashion and beauty that move beyond the seasonal toward enduring design, material intelligence, and genuine personal expression. Increasingly, people are choosing fewer things and better ones — garments and beauty products that reflect discernment, craft, and long-term value. We explore the designers, brands, and ideas that prioritise quality and cultural awareness, and examine how the choices people make in what they wear and how they present themselves articulate something real about who they are. Style, here, is about choosing wisely — investing in what endures, reflects identity, and contributes to a life of clarity rather than accumulation.

Fashion — We cover fashion through the lens of craft and intention: the designers, creative directors, and brands redefining what it means to dress with purpose — from the architecture of a garment to the values of the house behind it.

Beauty — We explore beauty as a considered practice rather than a pursuit of trends: the products, rituals, and philosophies that reflect a growing appreciation for formulation, craftsmanship, and the quiet confidence of a well-edited routine.

Jewellery — We are drawn to jewellery and accessories as objects of lasting value: the designers and makers working in fine jewellery and considered craft, creating pieces chosen for a lifetime rather than a moment.

Interiors — We approach interiors as an extension of personal identity: the designers, objects, and spatial thinking that shape homes and spaces reflecting the same discernment and aesthetic clarity we bring to everything we wear and own.

Culture

Culture provides the lens through which we understand the present. Through film, television, literature, music, and art, we explore the works that help us interpret the spirit of our time. We are drawn to culture that demands something of its audience — that asks us to slow down, sit with complexity, and see the world differently. In a moment defined by constant information, the cultural experiences that invite reflection carry particular weight. Our cultural coverage highlights the works and voices that open the mind, spark conversation, and illuminate the ideas shaping contemporary life. Culture, at its best, offers perspective — helping us see not only what is happening around us, but what it means.

Film — We are drawn to cinema with a distinctive directorial vision: films that use image, atmosphere, and narrative to say something true about human experience, and the directors and collaborators who make that possible.

Television — We follow television that transports — series with strong visual identity, cultural depth, and the kind of storytelling that stays with you long after the screen goes dark.

Literature — We explore books that invite deeper thinking: fiction and non-fiction that engage seriously with culture, identity, aesthetics, and the texture of contemporary life.

Music — We approach music as cultural expression — exploring the artists, albums, and movements that reflect the emotional and social currents of our time.

Art — We cover the exhibitions, artists, and art world conversations that challenge, move, and expand the viewer's understanding of the world — from gallery shows to art fairs and beyond.
