A green life at GREEN Gastrobar

The newly opened GREEN Gastrobar in Amsterdam's financial district Zuidas is another place that green foodies can add to their to-visit list.

Chef and restaurateur Peter Lute is the driving force behind GREEN.

GREEN Gastrobar is located on the 26th and 27th floor of The Valley buildings, the latest addition to Amsterdam's concrete jungle. The towers feature a cosmopolitan design with cascading floors and greens on different sides.

The restaurant can be found inside the Molteni&C|Dada store, where the elevator will take you to the 26th floor. The restaurant undoubtedly has one of the best views in Amsterdam at the moment, with a breathtaking 360 degree view across Amsterdam (and beyond).

The interior design is done in collaboration with Molteni&C|Dada and curated by Peter Lute himself. Walk around the two floors to find yourself in a new kind of hospitality concept where food and design are blended seamlessly into a new whole.

Whilst the restaurant offers a green menu that highlights green and sustainable cooking, it isn't limited to it. The menu offers meat dishes as well, for those looking to enjoy a bit of red as well.

Once every month, GREEN hosts a special evening on Fridays, their Sky Night — an event where guests can dress up, wind down, enjoy a cocktail or two during dinner service.

We visited the Sky Night in August, with a sunny skyline as our view and ending the night with starry lights dimming on the horizon.

Dinner during Sky Night is impeccable from start to finish. On our Sky Night, we were served the August Green Table (dishes may vary every month).

Dishes included an eggplant bumbu with coconut and a seaweed cracker, an absolutely beautiful start with Indonesian notes, and a tomato tea with avocado, macadamia and kaffir lime, a refreshing and delightful appetizer.

The menu continued with a summery plate of smokey beetroot, paired with goat cheese, lovage oil and a red curry tuille. This was a stunning dish that you could have any time, any day.
